February 2022 we visited this restaurant 3 4x, we found the quality offered better than what is usually offered in the center of Carvoeiro. The menu offered now contained only 3 options: 3 5 or 7 courses, without any further description. We indicated that we did not want an extensive menu and that we did not want dessert. The waiter suggested that a 5 course menu would be a good choice, as the portions were small. We asked for an adjustment for a 3 course menu: 2 starters and main course, any additional cost was not a problem our menu adjustment was difficult, the waiter told us, but after consultation with the kitchen, this was agreed. We started with some bread, an amuse bouche was missing here. The shrimp in garlic oil with a few sprigs of red pepper and some thin slices of sweet and sour mini corn was reasonable, but did not surpass any restaurant in terms of taste. The second starter, a tasteless pea cream topped with an egg yolk that was poached much too softly, was downright bad so bad that it was barely touched and sent back to the kitchen. The main dish was a large portion of pork cheek on barley with some mushrooms and chestnut. This dish was decent. Together with a bottle of Paxa Negra Mole (Euro 35.80 purchase <Euro 14) we paid Euro 135.80 within 1 hour, without any compensation for the lousy second starter. Sorry about this! We had a really bad meal and won't be back.
As always great food, wine and service. But this evening 100% too much salt in 3 dishes. There are soo many great herbs to substitute salt.
Really amazing service, friendly employees and overall the food was great! Would definitely recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy food and have a great experience!
Amazing food, great service, only downside was we chose to go in the off season (November) but other than that it was a superb dining experience.
The care taken over the preparation of each dish is evident when it is placed in front of you. Rachel creates art on a plate that tastes sublime, she is a true artist. Give your taste buds a treat and eat at The Square.
