The manager definitely deserves 5 stars; I was initially considering a 3-star rating, but it was clear that he was the main reason this restaurant is still in business. If he weren't so busy handling everything, I believe he would have had the opportunity to address some of the minor issues I encountered during my visit, aside from the parking situation. The menus could easily be updated if the on-duty staff took a moment to communicate with off-duty employees. While the manager may have been on a much-needed break, I felt like I wasn't welcomed during my time there. Perhaps they were just overwhelmed with a rush or something, but overall, it was disappointing.
This is a fantastic spot for a quick and affordable lunch, reminiscent of the classic lunch counters from the 1950s and 60s (not that I was around back then!). They are especially known for their delicious hot dogs, but don't forget to order a refreshing lemonade or orangeade as well—they're made fresh to order!
Dean loves the Wednesday specials; the flavors are fantastic, the prices are incredible, and the service is even more outstanding.
Tiny drugstore with tiny lunch counter. A Town of Cary institution. Sat and Wed special 2 hot dogs for $4. Veggie, beef or Jesse Jones dogs. Go for the classic Carolina red hot dog with Jesse Jones. We do mustard, slaw, and chili. Take a block over and enjoy at the Pharmacy or Bond Brothers for dog and beer.
