Hippopotamus - Castell-Platja d'Aro

Visited many times whilst known as Hippopotamus for their most excellent coffee. Now called Victoria nd reviewed as such.

Small and cozy restaurant in the middle of Platja d’Aro’s famous shopping- and nightlife boulevard. Great selection of well prepared dishes. Incredible friendly and competent staff. You really feel from the first moment that their work is their passion. Many thanks for the great evening! We definitely will come back.

When ever we go to spain for some reason my husband has to try a pizza, this is why we ended up here, I dont eat pizza so had one of there salads which i enjoyed. He said his pizza was OK, had had better and had had worse!

Had lunch here today and had the Hake and cuttlefish. it was very good so am surprised at some of the negative reviews. Service was efficient with a smile, but not overly friendly which is fine. Would definitely go back

Had a family lunch in here during our summer break. Not overly impressed with it. Pizzas were poor. The pizza ham was boiled and the bases weren't very nice. Calamari was also over cooked and not what I'd expect for a restaurant in that area. Also was the only place along that bit of the main drag without glass barriers at the roadside to help block out car noise and fumes. There are plenty better places to eat in Platya D'aro.
