I recommend getting the daily menu, it was great value for money and it was delicious! We had the pork and potato roast, good portion too.
We stopped in castello branco whilst touring Portugal and found this place was the only open restaurant at the time. We entered and the girl never acknowledged us Straught away and then when we asked for a table for 2 she just pointed to a table in the corner. We sat for a few minutes waiting for at least a drink or menu to be offered when we decided to take the menu off one of the other tables. The waitress then walked over to us, grabbed ajktye menu from another table and slammed the menu on the table of where we took it off. Very rude and still never acknowledged us even then. She then went out the back and wasn't seen so we decided to leave. Very rude and abrupt and terrible people skills. Wouldn't have bee so bad if it was a busy place but there was only another couple in. Take it they don't like different nationalities.
We stopped in here on a very cold February Monday night and had an excellent meal. The setting is very pleasant and the ubiquitous (in Portugal) TV was very small, a good thing. It was a good test for our nascent Portuguese as the server did not understand English and we are still learners. I had the shrimp and squid skewer, which had some vegetables on it also. The squid was unbelievably tender and it all had a flavor of the grill. My spouse had fresh linguine with salmon. Both dishes were excellent. If we visit Castelo Branco again, we will definitely return.
We waited ~50 minutes for the food, the squid skewer was burnt, the codfish had way too much flour on it. We would not recommend this restaurant based on what we got, maybe just bad choices.
