Castle Hill Tavern

I was working in the Castle Hill area for a number of days and went to the Castle Hill Tav for lunch and dinner. The Tav has a good and generous $12 lunch menu. It includes pub staples such as fish and chips, schnitzel, burgers and even steak and chips. The meals are well sized and all come with chips. On the two occasions I have had lunch here, I found the meals to be well prepared and tasty. On the occasion I went for dinner here it was the Rugby League State of Origin Night. The Tav was well attended with a good quality crowd. Dinner options were again standard pub fare, but again well prepared and generous in proportions. The tap beer is quite good. It has good quality offerings from the big breweries such as James Squire Hop Thief, Toohey's Old and Coopers Pale Ale. Beer prices are reasonable by Australian standards ($10.20 for a pint of Hop Thief; $8 for a pint of Old).I plan on being back at the Castle Hill Tav the next time I am in the area for work.

Noisy, costly, very basic food. On the spot decision as to where to have a lunch with friends. The good was convenient parking BUT that was all. The indoor eating area was just soo noisy you couldn't hear someone across the table. Drink prices where over the top as was the food. Very basic cusine. Won't be back.

We came here on a saturday afternoon for lunch. It was very quiet. We ordered the special lobster dish, a herb pizza, nachos and bbq chicken dish. All the food tasted really good but they did stuff up the chicken dish, and my dad had to wait another at least 15 minutes to get the dish his ordered, however it did go down well. Prices are reasonable.However I do have to say something about the coffee. We got a latte and cappuccino. I am happy that we were informed beforehand that it was being made by a trainee and that we were getting the coffee at a discounted half price. I would just like to give some constructive criticism about the coffee. Firstly, soy milk was not an available option. The coffees came out just luke warm, would've have been nicer if they were hotter (especially the foam on top was COLD). The cappuccino was also very very bitter and sour, however the latte tasted good. The capp also barely had any chocolate topping on top.

Their lunch menu is great! From Steaks to a Ceasar Salad, great variety. Generous servings as well and great kitchen staff! The place was clean and great for small get togethers!

Enjoyed the food. Atmosphere a bit cold. The site photos showed an outdoor area and balcony tables. The balcony bar was closed and the outdoor area tables were dirty and old.Like a lot of pubs these days, they more cater for tradies and gamblers.. Sports bars. Not the place for good atmosphere and to take your lady. Shame about that.
