Byrnes - Castlebar legal

We celebrated Day 2 of our wedding here on 28th May with about 50 guests. The team had reserved the outdoor area for us which was absolutely perfect. We were able to have musicians playing throughout the day so the craic was mighty. The Food in Billy Byrnes is absolutely exceptional there was no shortage of it. Their incredible chef put together a street food menu for us based on what we love from their regular menu. Without a shadow of a doubt the best Sliders, the tastiest Fish Tacos, Wings Falafels in Kilkenny!! All the dishes prepared were packed with flavour. Shoutout to the two girls that looked after us, they were fantastic, some of the guests were arriving later, so they held back on some of the food and served it when those guests came in which was brilliant and they constantly checked up on us throughout service. If you are looking to book a party, a family gathering or simply just looking for good tasty grub, this is the place to go. We would have no hesitations to recommend Billy Byrnes. I am very disappointed with the customer service from one employee. The man working covered with tattoos was so beyond rude. He didn’t care about the way he spoke and kept giving me looks, it made me so uncomfortable I couldn’t even enjoy my drinks, I was so on edge! The girl working on the other hand was so helpful and made me feel welcomed as a customer.

This was our first stop for food when we arrived in Ireland. We had driven from Dublin to Kilkenny. I ordered the chicken avocado sandwich and my husband ordered the fish chips. We sat at the bar had good service. The food was reasonably priced and hit the spot after being in the car for a while! Stop in for a quick bite Guinness!

Elizabeth left a review in December that echoes my own experience on 2 occasions. Food is always good here, service is appalling. I kept having to go up to the bar to order as they kept on chatting and chatting to each other. I couldn't pay my bill as the female staff member kept chatting and then served customers before me. I sat down and was about to walk out when finally she came over. Dreadful service and appalling staff.

Just finished a two day stay in Billy Byrnes. Extremely well looked after by really friendly, attentive staff. Had a light breakfast of tea and scone, highly recommended.
