RUN, do not walk to this intimate restaurant with BIG BOLD flavors and authentic recipes!! Thank goodness for our Yelp peeps, because we were in the desert for a Tournament and found this restaurant. My BFF is from New Orleans and because of her I 've been able to enjoy authentic, delicious southern home-cooked food and the young lady holding down the kitchen (please forgive me for not remembering your name) seriously put her foot in these dishes!! Cheesy grits were KILLER on point! Country fried steak n eggs with biscuits n gravy...flavorful!! Jambalaya was amazing, beniets were light n airy, the fried green tomatoes were crispy and not oily. Chicken tenders were OK, not great, not bad, but still good. We tore up the peach cobbler AND banana pudding didn 't stand a chance, I didn 't even get a taste test! Very friendly staff, lovely singing voice came from the kitchen, adding to the family vibe. I believe the owner Mike came by our table to thank us for sharing our Saturday with them. We most definitely will return!! Tranesha gave excellent suggestions n her friendly vibe added to our amazing visit!
I grew up in east Texas, in the cajun food corridor between Houston and New Orleans. Now I live in Western Canada, which means that I can 't get the food I grew up with. Luckily, we winter in Palm Springs and I happened to see the big CRAWFISH banner as I drove by and made sure to return and check them out. I 'm glad I did! We 've been at least once or twice a week since we discovered it. The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and if you don 't know what to order, just get anything that comes with gravy. Legit: it 's the best sausage gravy you will ever have, period. Everyone I 've brought here takes one bite and their eyes roll back in their heads like they 've just seen Jesus or something. It 's THAT good. The beignets are fantastic and not greasy, the crawfish boil (special of the day) was perfect, the loaded southern tots are crazy good, the popcorn crawfish are light and crispy with an amazing lemon/horseradish dipping sauce, and the service from Tranesha is reason enough to visit all by itself. She 's delightful. The only nit I can pick is that the chicken fried steak was a bit overdone as were the gator bites, which got a bit chewy as a result. The flavour was on point, though, so I didn 't mind much. I 've brought all my Canadian friends here and introduced them to the foods I ate growing up, because so many of the dishes can 't just be explained to someone who 's never had them. Even after 10 years in Canada, this food is so good I got my southern accent back. Lawd have mercy.
OMG the Shrimp and creamy grits and the hush puppies were so good, someone commented on the location which is not the best but with food this good you will figure it out and find a place to park. Even the lemonade was good. But you better be quick they close at 1500!!!
We stopped by here to get a local friend a gift certificate and ended up having the most fabulous meal. Cheesy grits, and every favorite from both of our previous southern lives... Excellent coffee! Our server had the most delightful smile and happy attitude. This is a teeny store front with limited seating, no reservations, and obviously a locals favorite. They are only open from 10 to 3 but we will plan a stop here every time we're in Palm Springs
