The food was actually quite good, but the reason I gave it one star is because of the disingenuousness of their pricing. I ordered a make your own salad and paid. Only after I walked away from the counter did I realize it seemed like I had been charged a lot for tax (The total was $12.73 and the salad was only $10.35 . I went back up to the register to figure out what happened. The man behind the register did not say a word when I asked him but only pointed at a small, non descript computer printed sign that was on the back of the register at a 5 year old 's height, stating that Due to rising costs, a $1.75 service fee will be charged for bowls and salads . (By the way, it was also more non descript because one of the corners was peeling over it where it had been taped and was coming off . It angers me when things like this happen for a couple of reasons. 1. There were no other noticeable signs anywhere in the store about this, so by the time you get to the register (if you actually DO notice the one at waist height see pic , you can 't decide to change to something else because your food was already made. (UPDATE: I got photos of the signs. Yes, I missed two. That 's because they were so clearly easy to miss. The writing is very small you 'd have to lean over the counter to read it it 's not nearly as noticeable as the bright neon marker lettering for toppings underneath it. It 's underhanded and bad business to work this way. 2. A service fee to do jobs like people do in restaurants is outrageous... They ARE serving you. It 's a service industry. It 's your choice about whether you want to tip someone or not, and that 's what it seems like they are trying to do with the added cost without your knowledge. If you want people to pay more, raise your prices officially, and don 't call it a service fee. So I gave them one star. I think businesses need to be fully transparent about their pricing and reasons for it. I will not be returning.
My coworker recommended this place a while ago, and I should have checked it out sooner! I got a poke bowl and the food was so fresh and flavorful. Definitely the best meal I’ve had in a while. My house is within walking distance so I’m definitely going to be coming back.
This place came through when I really didn't wanna have to stray too far from Woodlawn for a decent nutritious meal. The giving thanks bowl reminded me of the way I like to eat at home the food starts out nice, neat and separate but quickly turns into a delicious mush of flavors. It's usu the only way my sweet potatoes end up with gravy on them, but Farmhouse did it on purpose and it worked! The Californian poke bowl was also ridiculous. While not ostensibly a Korean dish, it hit all those spicy, tart places on my tongue, esp with the pickled ginger on top. Might be the best bowl I've ever had. Even the brownie was hittin'. Thick and chocolatey without being gooey.
Warning This Establishment is Highly Racist. If you are a black male or women I would suggest another establishment that’s actually qualified as vegan . I was in there today. I ordered a strawberry, pineapple, and blueberry smoothie. I tasted my smoothie and could taste bananas. Banana has a very potent taste. The man told me it was strawberry, pineapple, and blueberry as if I would have a reason to lie . I frequently go to this location and everyone always is unpleasant. Today was the final straw. The cashier told me “ I would recommend you never order a smoothie from us again in life” when I asked for a refund . I said” I won’t” and that I will be notifying a manager. The man got loud on me as a female and said “ I don’t care do it”. Instead of realizing the mistake he made he was very rude. This is highly unprofessional. Thank God I was not allergic to Bananas because they did not care. Their food is uncovered and exposed to germs no proper concealment. They are rude and talk down to anyone of black decent . This is my first review ever and because of the consistency in the malicious behavior this is why I wrote this review
My son and I discovered this place through Grubhub. We eat a salad at least once a week for dinner. We literally stopped ordering salads from a well known restaurant when we had a salad from here. Absolutely delicious. We both look forward to it weekly.
