I had to watch as other customers received their food while the server passed by me without acknowledging my presence. Maybe a sign at the door would have helped? I hope the service has improved since then.
The staff was amazing! The Chateau is very old and historic. We love how they've kept so much original over the years. New owners are coming in at the end of this season and we really hope they keep most of the old charm while making the necessary upgrades to things like plumbing and heat.
Like taking a step back in time, walking into this beautiful historic hotel is an absolute treat. We learned many people come to visit the Chateau without ever taking the few extra steps to tour the caves next door. We can understand why, as everything is so beautiful and the people so friendly at this property. Be forewarned this property is closing for 2 years at the end of September 2018. We can only hope and pray that the renovations don't take away any of the historic charm this property has to offer. We can't wait to go back!
I was informed that the current tenants of the chateau won’t be managing the hotel when it reopens in two years; it will be taken over by a different company. I hope the new management will uphold the excellent customer service we experienced. On a slightly negative note, the mattresses were quite uncomfortable, and the couple in the room next door left their light on, which shone into our room. My partner and I found that we kept rolling into the center of the mattress, and the room was quite cold, though I stayed warm under the blankets. I struggled to get the temperature just right, which resulted in a terrible night's sleep. However, despite these issues, the overall experience was truly amazing.
The Oregon Caves were easily reachable by car and then on foot. The park was absolutely breathtaking, and the visitor center was engaging and enjoyable. The tour I experienced was phenomenal; although some sections of the cave were narrow and challenging to navigate, the tour guide was knowledgeable and eager to share her insights. The hikes I took were stunning and provided incredible views of the surroundings. I would highly recommend this park to anyone interested in nature, history, or geology.
