This restaurant offers delicious local cuisine at an affordable price. The roasted pork, rice, beans, and empanadas are all tasty and well-prepared.
The restaurant is honestly very inconsistent. The food looks delicious behind the glass, but once you try it, you will be disappointed. It is edible, but you won't be happy.
I am a great fan of this place when I go to Puerto Rico. It is a very rustic place, right in the middle of the island in the Guavate area. You won't miss as it is the first of many Lechoneras in the area. To order, you need to make a line. If you have no clue what they have, I suggest to first take a look at the food display and get an idea. It is definitely fun to try many of their dishes. BTW this is not a place if you are vegan or vegetarian. ; I went for the star of the place: Roasted pig. It was moist, delicious, yummy. Also tried, their white rice which is cook with pork fat. The morcilla (blood sausage is really good as well. I asked to try it because the previous time I was there it was so spicy, I could not eat it. The bar is rustic (of course but have some good drinks. The Coconut mojito was super good they actually shredded coconut right there while preparing it. Never had coconut mojito with shredded coconut and a splash of coconut milk (I think .. It is a must have. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 star is because staff needs to have a little bit of more patience with people like us that have no clue in what to order. We got there not at a busy time so I was hoping a bit more help.
This place came highly recommended by our host and I must say it was totally worth it. And I don 't even eat meat. After a week in puerto rico with delicious local cuisine mofongo, tostones, rice and gandules, guineitos.. I was craving something more flavorful and spicy. At El Mojito, I found a chickpea and tomato 'curry ' style dish which gave me just that. I had it with some rice and mofongo on the side and it was divine. Oh and the pork.. my husband got some lechon and really liked it (of course). He said it was one of the best he had. The servers were really friendly (cafeteria style) and there was plenty of seating.
