Cazi' Del Mar - Cazilhac

It was my last night in Carcassonne, and wanted to go for a nice meal close to the b&b I was staying at. I love seafood and food this place close enough to walk to. I had a mixed seafood platter which included Shrimps, Muscles, Clams and Razor Clams. Had chips and a side salad with it too. It was fantastic!!! The service also was first class and a special mention must go to the manager who after I asked to call a taxi, personally gave me a lift back to my b&b. This is going above and beyond and if you are reading this I can’t thank you enough, top guy!

Having eaten at this new restaurant three times now, I feel qualified to provide a review. Situated in the small village of Cazilhac (ten minutes drive from Carcassonne) this is the best seafood I've eaten away from the coast. The menu is varied depending upon the daily availability of fresh seafood and a quick look at the restaurants facebook page indicates the special of the day. Mussells, oysters, razor clams, scallops and paella, were all fantastic and for those seeking fish and chips, you won't be disappointed either. Being new the decor is clean and fresh. The restaurant has seating inside the main building and also in the enclosed heated terrace and isn't huge, perhaps seating 50 or 60 comfortably. We didn't need to book, but each time we ate mid week and also out of season. The region becomes busy between May and September and I would recommend making a reservation. The drink selection was similar to most restaurants with good local wines available by bottle or carafe at reasonable prices. The prices vary depending upon the meal chosen, but overall it is good value and not overly expensive. I hope the restaurant does well and, living in the area, it is definitely one that we will frequent.
