We are invited to a wedding there soon so we wanted to check it out. Total disappointment. $12.99 for a Brisket Sandwich which was dried out over-smoked mystery meat. (It was beef but not any brisket we have seen). A charge of .50 cents for a side of sauce? $9.00 cheese burger was tasty, but nothing special. I was charged .75 for a sliver of lettuce, tomato, and onion, Every other restaurant calls this garnish or dressing the plate to make it look appealing (included in the price) .50 for a dollop of mayo? Oh yeah, a 2 oz plastic cup of flavorless coleslaw is included. This place in the middle of nowhere people drive far to come here. The food is WAY overpriced for what it is, and they still try to nickle and dime you! $33.00 for lunch for 2 is outragous. Never again. Ride the horses, but go else where for food.
Yummy! We ordered a brisket and hot Nashville chicken sandwiches. They were both excellent Our server, Lexi, was outstanding Why a 4? The fireplace/stove was omitting a lot of smoke and we smell like a fire pit after we left. Not the best smell to leave with. The parking lot could have been plowed better We will be back and hopefully when the fireplace/stove is working better or the weather is warmer
So my lovely wife kept seeing pictures of food from Gunsmoke on 'the Facebook ' and after several viewings we decided to take the four wheeler thru the snow to Cedar Point. Keep in mind that Gunsmoke is part of a horse ranch back about a quarter mile from Rt. 71. There was a sign by the entrance of the ranch road that said 'Winter Hours: Thursday, Friday-Saturday, Sunday ' and since yesterday was a Wednesday, I was bummed for a minute. But The Facebook said they were having a Chicken, Waffles, and Spaghetti special TONIGHT, Wednesday, so we drove in and it 's a small cabin tucked into the middle of their operation. What I 'm saying is you just might miss this place. We got there, and yep, Wednesdays are chicken nights. Thursdays are taco nights, and Fri-Sun are full menu, sandwiches and what not. Now, of course since yesterday was Wednesday we didn 't have a sandwich but we can attest to all the pictures of yummy sammiches on The Facebook. I can say that the server was awesome, the owner was a Cub fan and awesome, the kitchen IS s-l-o-w (maybe everything is cooked to order? and the chicken, waffles, and spaghetti were all very good. The cinnamon butter tipped it over the top. The fries were handcut but soggy, the server said to order them extra crispy next time. But maybe you like them that way, potato, po-tah-to. Probably the most impressive thing I found was the specific choice of liquors offered and their tastes in terms of the type of drinks they featured. What I mean is that they have the exact same tastes I have. They specialize in mules, Cap 'n Morgan, Bulleit, Mike 's Hard Lemonade. Hell yeah. Everything I wanted, nothin ' I don 't. I WILL be back, and you should go, too.
This is my third visit here, the first two were approximately two years ago, we my wife and I found this place by accident. We recommend this place to all our friends. If I may , If your staying at Starved Rock go off the beaten path try something different at gunsmoke grill they've got everything you want good food, cold drinks, horseback riding, and a tipping petting zoo. This place is a total must.
