Carigrill Creole Cuisine - Cedar Rapids

Was strolling through Lindale Mall for no reason and stumbled upon this caribbean creole restaurant at the food court. we ordered fried pork and oxtail soup that comes with black rice, jamaican meat patty, and sweet plantains. we also ordered apassion fruit juice. i would say everything tasted great although the rice was a little hard to eat. we loved the juice and beefpatties. recommended for future lunches!

Absolutely amazing food! I get it almost everyday for my lunch break as I?m a mall employee and they do an AMAZING job of remembering my order (even though I didn?t expect that at all). They do amazing in adding the perfect amount extra when you askfor it (such as seasonings and such) and they aren?t bitter about it at all, they understand everyone has different tastes theylike! I highly recommend the yellow rice, it?s the best rice I?ve ever had!

I ordered through DoorDash and had a terrible experience! I got the seafood pan, but the shrimp were overcooked, and I only received two crab legs. The sausages seemed undercooked, and all the sauce leaked out into the bottom of the bag! The pan they use for the food simply can't hold extra sauce. It should have been packaged in a separate, sealed container! I wouldn't recommend this place at all!

The food was just okay—spicy Cajun dishes that didn't really stand out. However, both my friend and I agreed that the fries were fantastic and truly remarkable. Unfortunately, aside from the fries, the rest of the food felt pretty ordinary, like something I could find anywhere else. I was also worried about the safety practices, as I noticed the heating elements for the rice and sauces were turned off, and the staff were handling food without gloves. Having worked in restaurants myself, that's definitely concerning. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and still hungry. Fries were great, but the food was just average, and the safety practices were alarming.

The food was excellent, though don't expect fast-food prices—real ingredients come at a higher cost. It was a pleasant surprise for Cedar Rapids.
