This is one of the few places where staff push carts around with the various dishes. The food remains outstanding! Taste is not compromised. This is also the first restaurant I was.brought to when I first started coming to Hong Kong.
For classic dim sum with trolleys and a view of the harbour, this restaurant is perfect. The food is diverse- a few familiar items but lots of new creations. There are huge chandeliers which make the massive dining hall feel very grand. The wait to get in is painful and often one hour. A machine spits out a ticket and the numbers are read out in Cantonese. Some of the waiters are aggressive which is a shame, but they have robot waiters picking up plates which is entertaining. The locals dress up to go which adds to the colour and theatre of the place. And it’s pricey.
Hard to beat Maxim's Palace at city hall when it comes to the authentic Cantonese dim sum experience. I recommend the salted fish and chicken fried rice along with all your classic dim sum favorites which will come by on carts.
A “Good to have” yum cha experience, if you are visiting Hong Kong They have different trolleys for different types of dimsums. The Dimsums are like any other Dimsum place. It’s all about the experience The only drawback is they are very busy during lunch hours. If you want to have your favourite pick of tables, you should be there by 11:30am. Else it gets very packed by 12pm on weekdays. You also need to be very patient to wait for your favourite food trolleys to arrive
Long long time haven't been here. I am sure they should have done some renovation before but it just look the same compare to my memory. Surprisingly all dishes were very delicious, and their soup was so tasty! Staff were very friendly and serve quickly. A very good choice for a quiet dinner time (compare to their busy lunch hour.. .
