As we stepped in it wasn’t very welcoming atmosphere as I later understood the manager just passed by not saying a word as we were puzzled where to go so we queued patiently with two kids. One family in front of us started being crowdy and more people just cut our way . So by the time our turn came out we were said we were late . I said nothing but let my name know and the order asking if I could have my lunch outside. I was said I could . My hubby left outside and I stayed to get some drinks when was said we couldn’t have lunch outside so I had to call my husband back to say that and that our table was ready for us indoors . No one asked me to pay . I grabbed the drinks and was waiting when I got a compliment for father ‘s day as a starter. My kids started being very hungry at it was 3 o clock and they HAD NO LUNCH except the cookies I offered them to have while the food comes. It was quite long when the lady came to say we had to pay for our lunch first to be served . She was sure she told me about that. But neither me nor my husband heard anything . She did apologised for a long wait , thank you . But When I asked how long it will take more she said 15 minutes and they were very busy and she was very nervous talking to me. Even shouting at me. This is why I said I am leaving paying for the drinks but she made me pay for the compliment I did not want . I had to eat it as we were all hungry. I paid /ordered my family‘s food but as I came up to the table my husband was very sad by the way the lady talked to me so he left the pub saying to leave the money . I didn’t as I promised my family to take them to the roast lunch. I got the refund saying to the lady- how rude she was. Her answer was to get off her pub . So I did . And I hope there will be less pubs like this one . She did say she doesn’t care about the reviews. I really felt bad . I had no intentions not to pay . I would pay extra if treated nicely . I had a feeling of discrimination and I know at some pubs you pay straight away but no one asked me to. 3 different people were putting my drinks saying nothing. Overall I just want to say if it’s busy and you can’t serve people in a proper way just do not do it.
We had a fantastic Father's Day lunch for 6 people at this restaurant. The food was delicious and served hot. Despite being very busy because several staff members called in sick, they handled the situation as best as they could. The landlady and other staff members were all working hard and doing their best to manage the situation. We would definitely go back again. The homemade desserts were especially delicious. Thank you to the staff for their hard work, we will definitely be back soon.
I made a reservation for Sunday lunch on Father's Day. The plate was filled with delicious food. The meat is sourced from the local butcher, and it is of top quality. The vegetables were prepared in a unique and clever way that I will definitely try at home. The food was served hot, but a suggestion would be to order a child-size portion for elderly guests so they can finish it all. The staff were all very polite, although the service was a bit slow, which was understandable given that it was Father's Day and they were very busy. The new owner has really done a fantastic job, and I will definitely be returning.
I visited this charming pub today with my daughter after hearing about its new management and amazing roast dinners. We were certainly not disappointed! I had trouble choosing which meat to order, so I went with the Chequers special. The beef, pork, and especially the turkey were so tender they practically melted in your mouth. The roast potatoes were perfectly seasoned, with a crispy outside and fluffy inside, just like the parsnips. The sausage meat stuffing, Yorkshire puddings, and fresh, tasty vegetables were all delicious. It was honestly one of the best pub roasts I've ever had. For dessert, my daughter enjoyed a homemade biscoff cheesecake that was lovely. Jodie and George, the new managers, were very friendly and welcoming, as were all the staff. It's hard to believe they've only been there for two weeks! This family-friendly pub has a spacious garden and a small playground for kids. It's also dog-friendly, with the new landlady, Jodie, even offering free doggie roasts. We had a lovely Sunday afternoon and will definitely be coming back.
