Service was mediocre and we was sat in a cold room that wasn’t very inviting, I presumed this was because we bought our dog with us. Food wasn’t very hot and the plates were cold.
Outstanding. The white hart at Maulden has to be the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The staff are amazing, the interior is incredible and the food is out of this world. The chefs are very talented and FOH staff are so incredibly kind.
The White Hart at Maulden has to be one of the best pub restaurants around, with a fabulous ambience to enhance the experience. The food is superb, the staff, in particular Holly, are so friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. To top it all, the menu is a haven for those of us who are gluten free. As well as a large varied general menu, there's such a wide choice of available gf dishes and gf desserts too, tasting as good as any gluten meal! I truly recommend the White Hart at Maulden, just brilliant!
The setting of the White Hart is lovely and on a Christmas night looked very picturesque. Upon entering the bar was busy but a great feel to it and nice vibe. Staff very friendly from the off. When we were seated for a table of four, it was two small round tables of two pushed together. Not ideal for space and considering we had booked a few months in advance, seemed cobbled together. We ordered and our starters came out quite quickly. Goats cheese lovely and lots of, fried squid less so, but quality was excellent. We probably waited a good half hour for the mains. It was busy so could understand the wait. My steak was very nice, triple cooked chips. Excellent. My wife’s sea bass came with a salad which was (in parts) going over and could have done with a dressing but by her own admittance, could have also asked for one. Unfortunately the sea bass, although cooked and tasted lovely, is served on her triple cooked chips, so what was once crispy fries, were soft from the juice off of the sea bass. My friends sea trout was gorgeous and her husband had the pork belly which he said he would definitely order again. Clothing attire, basically anything goes. Very laid back. Toilets had paint coming off the walls and looked very tired. All in all I would come back, it’s a lovely place that serves some nice food. Just not quite there. Enjoy
