Consistency is key for families searching for a place to dine. The Aussie, as it is commonly known, excels in this aspect. The food is consistently delicious, the service is great, and the venue is charming. The portions are generous and the prices are below average. It feels like visiting an old friend, and perhaps some of the competitors should take note on how easy it is to stand out.

I would give this restaurant a 1 out of 10 for their food. It used to be really good, but now the quality has definitely declined, even though the prices may have been reduced.

The Aussie, as it is commonly referred to, offers a separate dining area that is perfect for those who prefer a more formal setting than a typical pub. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, especially with a fireplace lit during the winter months. The menu is extensive and the portions are generous. The Chicken Schnitzel is particularly impressive, being both large and juicy. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the wedges, Cob loaf garlic bread, and the flavorful salt and pepper squid. This restaurant is arguably one of the best value-for-money dining options in Cessnock, and it boasts a relatively quiet ambiance.

We went to this restaurant tonight. It is not a swill n grill but are still advertising as one, we had vouchers and the cashier reluctantly accepted these and stated that if the boss had of been here she would not of accepted it. It still states Swill n Grill on signage. Over an hour for meals to be served 3 out of 4 guests had nearly eaten meal before 4th arrived. There was a hair in one meal and when the waitress was alerted to this fact she said she would let them know. No one came back near us so we left. Over crowded place with over worked staff!
