Visited in April when snow was still quite thick on the ground. A great hike from the car park at the bottom using spikes at this time of year but could see the benefit of snow shoes the snow was quite deep in places and did fall through a few times. I’m lent of parking at the bottom and the hike here was worth it when you see the views. You can then continue into the mountains if you wish, although I think that would be more for summer hikes. We didn’t eat here but the place was open and there were several people eating.
Home made ice cream and beer! 1700+ meters up in the alps stunning views of Mont Blanc and the Valais does life get any better? You can drive up but we chose to walk. 400m straight up via a 6km route, immersed in mountain air and tranquillity, finally ending up at Loutze. Could have gone even higher if we didn't have the two younger reluctant trekkers with us. Friendly staff, iconic place. I'd give it 6 stars if possible! Flugelhorn concert at the start of the trek lovely and unexpected dose of alpine culture!
Very pretty alpine refreshment bar with magnificent view!
Always a pleasant moment after a good climb on foot. Without difficulty if you go by road, it is however better to have crampons in your bag if you take the hiking route in winter. Friendly welcome, delicious regional products. Also dishes to share.
