Fazoli's - Champaign

Today my partner and I came for lunch. We were behind a young woman who clearly was disabled. The lady ordered the Alfredo and the front counter worker, Zachery B asked her if she wanted the lunch special for $7.99. She asked what that meant and he explained it to her. You pick 2 smaller portions and a drink. She replied no, she just wanted the Alfredo.(again it was obvious she was mentally handicapped He in a very condescending way said , “I just want to make it clear, you want to spend $8.99 on just Alfredo vs getting the lunch special for $7.99?!” She seemed confused and finally said ok I’ll do the lunch special. I did not like how he spoke to her. It was rude and condescending Now it’s our turn to order. I got the lunch special and picked the side salad and a baked lasagna like I always order. When I told Zachery that I wanted the lasagna baked he said “ that’s not a thing! We don’t do that” I told him it’s always what I order and they do it with a $1 charge. He argued with me and said “we don’t even have a. Way to put that in!” Then he said “when do you normally come here?” It felt like he was challenging my word and the truth. I said I come about monthly for lunch and always have ordered this. He then said”I work every day for the last month and I’ve never seen you!” Literally question if I’ve ever order this before. I probably visit once a month. I also have never seen him prior. But it is what I’ve always ordered. It was so strange that my partner and I just looked at each other and clearly with our face expressions thought this has to be a joke! But he wasn’t! So I again told him ok, but this is what we all order and it’s never been an issue before. I know it cost more and that’s fine. He said there is not such up charge. But then 10 seconds later let us know he figured it out. Great, he places the order the entire time mumbling how this isn’t a thing and how he is having to force the system to do it. Made us very uncomfortable. My partner ordered the lunch special as well with the Alfredo and also with the baked lasagna. Looking at the recipe, you can see we were over charged for a sm drink and our 2 orders were different- I understand the upcharge for the the “baked” lasagna. We accept and wanted it. But what we were charged was incorrect. The food was fine, and what we expected for Fazolis . The interaction with Zachery however was beyond odd and off putting. Like for real, it’s a dollar upcharge that we get every time we come and are fine with it. It was just uncomfortable seeing how he spoke to both the lady infront of us and then us. I hope management retrains Zach and helps him grow to his potential. It was not a good visit.
