It's a walk down the memory lane with a visit to Sharma Bakery sector 9, chd. I have been here millions of times since childhood and they are still the best. The biscuits and the bread collection is great.
A small bakery located in the inner market of Sector 9.<br/ Whenever I visit Sector9, I make sure I visit Sharma Bakery and buy their delicious • coconut macaroons! <br/ Fluffy freshly made and yummy! They just melt in your mouth. <br/ I've also given a try to their pastries,<br/ •Chocolate Pastry: Contrary to all their items, I found this to be so-so! The pastry had a bit of a sour taste, maybe it was made long ago. Who knows! Guess they're not so good in this department. <br/ • Basic Wheat Biscuits- Typical Indian saviour with tea are the wheat biscuits and here, we get one of the best in town. Many confectioners sell these but all the others are packaged and made days ago! Here, they provide freshly made biscuits. <br/ <br/ I think one of the many highlights of this place is that they serve almost everything fresh contrary to the other confectioners and that is what makes them stand out! <br/ <br/ -MFE
Ever since I saw Neeti Gupta 's pictures of vintage jars and containers at Sharma Bakery, since then I had Sharma Bakery on my wishlist! And just as expected, the classic setup of this bakery stole my heart!<br/ <br/ For those who love bright and flashy outlets, this may not be your place! Neither you will get artisan breads or premium desserts here, but this is just a bakery as a bakery should be serving loaves of bread, assortment of biscuits and cookies, cakes and pastries and even different kinds of eggs (usually the farm based quality).<br/ <br/ It is not only the setup which will make you feel like you are in some old era, but also the price of items. A pastry (a huge one) for Rs. 20 only, and the best part was the cupcake Rs. 5 only!! I don 't know if kids these days can even buy a candy worth Rs. 5, let alone a cupcake!<br/ <br/ Since I visited the bakery in late hours, so most of their snacks and pastries were finished! They were left with pineapple pastries only, even during late hours, the cream of pastries was fresh! and the base cake was soft.<br/ <br/ The tea cakes are available in slab form, however, with course of time it gets pretty hard! It is not advisable to warm it up either, since the oil oozes out of it! Cupcake is made of the same cake.<br/ <br/ They have a huge variety of biscuits, most of them are desi versions the most astounding one was shakkar biscuit, which were not really good in taste but definitely go well with a cup of ginger tea in winters!<br/ <br/ I hope the bakery maintains its retro charm and continue serving fresh baked items to all its fans!
When a baker knows the 2basics of baking....Petty and Cream Roll he indeed is a good baker, irrespective of the variety he can offer. Years on and still the same taste in their both basics. Kudos for that !!
