Sunday dim sum was excellent. Terrific selection of tasty morsels. The best shumai in Phoenix!
If you check China King's website, you'll see that every dim sum item features the har gow (shrimp dumpling) prominently. Luckily, they didn’t have rabbit on the menu this Sunday. I highly recommend trying the har gow (which are delicate, nearly clear dumplings filled with shrimp), siu mai (shrimp-stuffed dumplings), shrimp rice noodles (thick noodles with shrimp topped with soy sauce and vinegar), and the best egg roll you’ll ever have—the shrimp egg roll is simply fantastic. If shrimp isn’t your thing, there’s still sticky rice wrapped in leaves, various pork dumplings, and of course, the dessert dumplings that you have to try (just be mindful of the paper!). One of the best parts of dim sum is sitting at a round table and sharing laughs while watching fellow diners navigate their meals—just be careful not to eat any paper!
This restaurant did not disappoint. The food was excellent and offered at a very reasonable price. The service was impressive; we were in and out in just 25 minutes. I highly recommend it and we will definitely return.
We started with the Wor Wonton soup, which was flavorful and generously filled with delicious ingredients. The Roast Pork appetizer was perfectly balanced with sweet and salty flavors, and it was not greasy at all. The Sizzling Steak was fantastic, seasoned with cracked pepper and other spices, complemented by thick pieces of red and green pepper, onions, and mushrooms. We also enjoyed a delicious fried rice dish that had a slight smoky flavor, which I particularly liked. For our chicken dishes, we tried the Kung Pao Chicken and Cashew Chicken. Both were beautifully prepared, with plenty of peanuts and tender white meat. I didn't get a chance to explore the Dim Sum options, which are difficult to come by since China Doll closed years ago. I fondly remember having their Dim Sum many years ago when it first opened while I was a new lieutenant at Luke AFB. The service at China King was prompt and attentive. The menu is extensive, featuring a wide variety of seafood and duck dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone craving authentic Chinese cuisine.
