I must admit I was skeptical, as I've never had a true Korean dining experience. This place surpassed my expectations. The owner was so friendly and generous. I wish I remembered her name because she was awesome. Her mom comes in everyday to cook. They bring out various kimchi starters and I was impressed. I've had kimchi before, but the kimchi radish, potatoes, and cucumbers were DELICIOUS. It had the perfect tang and spice level. Not too spices but enough to tickle the tongue. Wasn't overly sour either. The spicy beef soup, yukgaejung, was AMAZING. The broth was deep with flavor and this one does have some spice. Generous portion of beef in there. The glass noodles were delicious and the addition of egg was wonderful. The Haemul Pa Jeon was HUGE. Easily shared amongst the 3 of us. Great flavor and I loved the soy-vinegar accompaniment. I was skeptical about the seafood inside but it was great and not fishy. Finally, the L.A. Galbi.. so good! There was a sweetness and savory-ness to them that I enjoyed. So delicious and again, generous portions. Are you noticing a theme here? There was another soup we tried that I didn't not have a picture of so I won't mention it. I think this was a perfect first experience for me. I'm so glad we went and will 100% go back. It was a little pricey for lunch, around 115$ but you get what u pay for. I wasn't mad. When you have good food you can't be mad. Give them a try and let me know!
Man so glad we found this hidden gem in downtown Chandler. Located in a runned down strip mall, the food here definitely hits the spot. The decor is simple with a line of bowls displayed by the wall. We got seated immediately. Our host appeared to be the owner hardly smiled and took our order rather rudely. May be she was just having a bad day or something. Anyways we got the Son Tofu Kimchi Soup with Seafood pancakes. It took a while for the food to come but damn it was worth the wait. That Tofu soup was one of the best Korean stew I have ever had. The tofu was soft and jiggly. The broth was packed with flavors, thick and rich with kimchi, and pork. Loved the rice. The combo hit the spot. My heart was full! The pancake was doughy but cooked through. I can tell the banchan was fresh. God the cucumber and cabbage kimchi was so so good! The price was bit higher compared to other Korean BBQ joints in the valley. But goodness the food was delicious. The service could've been better. Definitely want to go back and try some other items from the menu! Good luck with your dining experience.
Food 5 stars! We ordered galbi and bi bim bap and will definitely be coming back for more! Galbi is generously portioned with quality beef on a bed of sliced onions, topped with sesame seeds and scallions. Bi bim bap was full of flavors and smoking hot on the table. Only bad thing I would say is I'm sad they are not AYCE (all you can eat)! Lol Service 5 stars! Service was great as we had a party of 12. Everyone's food came out sizzling hot and timely. Although, it was not very busy for a Sunday afternoon so I would be interested to see how they perform during a rush/packed house. Nonetheless, they were on top of things and staff were very friendly. Ambiance 4 stars. I'm not sure if they are trying to reduce their electricity bill but it was a bit warm inside the restaurant. Could be the back corner of the restaurant is not well ventilated, or whatever it may be; it would be more comfortable if I wasn't sweating while trying to enjoy my food. Note: I also had my 6 month old baby with me and holding her so perhaps that was a source of increased body temperature. Moving on to the exterior of the restaurant it looks like a whole in the wall. Parking is pretty limited and tough to get in and out of. Otherwise, the interior is nice. Nothing special but feels like a whole in the wall. Also noticed other Korean families eating there, so you know the food is legit! Overall 5 stars! The 4 star ambiance is not enough o knock off a whole star. Truly would be a 4.5 stars but rounding up for stellar food and service. Definitely would recommend to friends and family!
If you want to identical Korean food, I guess Chodang is the one of them. It's under new ownership. Overall, our experience was pretty good and the food was good as well. Marinade soy sauce crab was not the best in my experience.
Venture out a couple of blocks from downtown Chandler, and voila! We got here around 1530 on a Friday and were the only customers for a little while. Modest decor. Local mom and pop. They bought this establishment about a year ago. The food came out sizzling. They use good quality meats. Everything was great. The glass noodles were a little rubbery. But overall pleased and would come back. Service was friendly and attentive.
