The cake that we ordered is beautiful and the pastries are good, but the rude service kind of ruined the experience. For those of you who have seen Seinfeld, it’s like the “Soup Nazi” episode…
This place is amazing! The regular glazed doughnut is in another stratosphere than krispy kreme. Very helpful and nice staff. The only thing I would suggest is that they do a little more speciality doughnuts.
This is a great place. A dying breed in our world. an old fashioned bakery that 's been in business for almost a century. Excellent prices, great people to deal with. When ever I 'm traveling, I always search for beloved local bakeries. When visiting Charleston, this is the place you gotta go. I advise getting there early or call early to get the items you want. Most of the locals say get the Hot Dogs which are a buttercream filled confection that looks like a hotdog. These were good, but I found other items to be much better. Especially their Custard and cakes. You can get an éclair and find out how legit their custard is... its real, not a packaged pudding. One of the better Custard Eclair 's I 've probably ever had. Bravo! Here 's to another 100 years of success for this little hidden gem.
The hotdogs were delicious, but I really felt like I was getting ripped off the way they do their cookies. The display case had nice big cookies. But they got my cookies from the other side where the cookies were much smaller. I hope this a one time thing so I will have to return soon and report back my experience.
It's my favorite place for pastries. I've been getting birthday cakes there for 49 years. Always taste great!
