Al Carbon - Charlottesville

I've heard about this restaurant for years, and I finally tried their takeout. The chicken is absolutely delicious, and the sides are fantastic too—especially the yucca and the peppers with spring onions. Simply awesome!

The staff was incredibly generous for staying open late just for us. The chicken was fantastic, and the sweet corn as a side dish was a delightful surprise. The grilled jalapeños also came with delicious onions, beautifully presented. My son enjoyed four tacos that were packed with flavor and very satisfying. We really appreciated the meal and found it to be a great value. The next time I'm in Charlottesville, I’ll be avoiding the chain restaurants and heading straight back to Al Carbon Chicken!

Authentic Peruvian Chicken. This restaurant is nestled in the corner of the Woodbrook shopping strip, and I find myself eating here every two weeks. It’s a small, clean establishment that is family-owned and operated. The food is infused with the genuine seasonings and flavors of South American cuisine. If you haven’t tried it yet, the rotisserie chicken is a must; it’s incredibly moist and packed with flavor. When I’m not craving the chicken, I usually go for the Cemitas, which are a great alternative. The sides are also excellent, and the staff takes the time to thoroughly explain the menu items. If you’re a first-timer, I recommend checking the menu online beforehand—it seems to benefit the colleagues I bring for lunch during the workweek. It’s a great find and definitely outshines any fast food chain when you have just 30 minutes for lunch.

Ordered Chicken taco and roast chicken (half) and some fried plantains. All of them are so good! I’m not a big fan of chicken dish but these chicken, even for me, is so good! Not dry at all, full of flavor and meat juice.

Wonderful space to bring family and friends to enjoy authentic food. Everything was absolutely delicious and would highly recommend if you have not tried it yet!
