Rising Roll - Charlottesville

The wraps at this place are amazing—they offer a little respite from my sadness. Even though I'm still feeling down and finding it hard to see purpose, grabbing a bite of their delicious food makes the everyday struggles a bit easier to handle.

The food is outstanding, but I wouldn't recommend the meal exchange. They sometimes mix up orders, particularly during busy lunch times, although it's not very frequent.

I mainly go to Rising Roll because of its great location and the meal exchange option available through the UVA Dining plan. It offers affordable prices and a cozy atmosphere with a relaxed vibe and friendly staff. During class breaks, the line can sometimes become quite long, but the team remains upbeat and works quickly. They serve Caribou Coffee here, which is decent and self-serve. Although I haven’t tried most of the sandwiches and soups, I’m a huge fan of the pastries—especially the cinnamon roll, which they’ll warm up for you upon request—and the smoothies. Situated in UVA’s New Cabell Hall, Rising Roll is particularly convenient for students, though it may not be as accessible for outside visitors. Overall, it’s an excellent spot for students due to its prime location and affordability—accepting both meal exchanges and plus dollars on the UVA Dining plan. As of Spring '17, the Breakfast Meal Exchange features one pastry and one regular beverage or one regular oatmeal and one regular beverage. For Lunch (after 10 AM), you can choose between a pastry and beverage, the Original Veggie Sandwich with chips and a beverage, or a Chicken Salad Wrap with chips and a beverage.
