Visited this classic English gem whilst on holiday in the North East and we couldn't praise it enough. Booked in advance after speaking with a really helpful staff member who proactively asked if we were bringing a dog, which we were. On arrival our whole party was greeted with an enthusiastic and warm welcome. The food was amazing with the portions on the larger side of perfect. Proper good quality grub. Loads of choice of both food and quality wines. We would quite honestly drive from Manchester just to eat there again.
Came twice in the space of 3 days when we visited the local village. Great food, service and good value. Dog friendly to boot! Service: 5 Location: 5

Visited on the recommendation of the owner of the Airbnb property we stayed in. Service and food quality was exceptional. My family and I would recommend the restaurant. The beer on offer were excellent. The menu was varied with approx. (from memory) 3 appetisers, 5 starters, 10 mains and about 8 desserts. We had the fish and chips (huge fish), steak and ale pie and chicken wrapped in bacon. All were excellent examples of this type of dish. Value was good considering the quality of the food and portion size. Booking of a table recommended.
