Les Gourmandises - Châtillon-sur-Loire

Good for a plain and simple lunch stop. We were pleased to find this friendly little restaurant serving unpretentious tasty food after having been discourteously ousted from the more traditional french restaurant across the road because we didn't want to order three courses. That rejection...meant we entered the functional looking Les Gourmandises opposite and found it more characterful internally than it's frontage had implied: and quite vibrantly full of locals and visitors. Exactly as it describes itself this welcoming, clean and simple restaurant/salon de thé serves Saladerie/salads, Pizzas, Crépes/pancakes, a Plat de jour (viande), 2 x Desserts du jour, and has a children's menu. We sampled two of their tasty salads, excellent ice cream, homemade tarte aux pommes and good coffee. Not in the least gourmet but nevertheless to be recommended.

Visited as a group of 12 (6 children 6 adults) without reservation and were ingeniously sought after (owners quickly shouted after their daughter to eat again). I had the steak and chips followed by a marmelade crepe...both were absolutely delicious! the carafes of house wine (we have the rose and the red tried) were really nice and a free brandy in the coffee at the end was a real tasty egg. highly recommended!

A last visit, and we had a wonderful time. we come every year to Chatillion-sur-Loire and this is the best restaurant we have eaten in the city. beautiful service, wonderful food and good value for money! free digestive tract for good sized place to park their bikes outside.

It was a Sunday evening and most restaurants were closed. there were no restaurants in briare. we had a car for happiness. We found ourselves back to eat something and have a picnic. we stumbled over this restaurant, it was still open and we had a chance. the only other diners were a family of native - a good sign. later, more diners arrived. we chose crêpes who were very good. it was a nice dinner and my last one in France before I returned to the states.

J'ai invité mes parents à manger dans ce restaurant avec plats du jour, pizzeria et crèperie. J'ai pris une viande très tendre et mes parents ont pris des pizzas avec une pâte feuillettée. Nous sommes ressortis ravi de ce repas. L'accueil est chaleureux, la fille et le fils aident leur mère.
