The place is part of a motel, so parking in front of the restaurant is a bit difficult, but there is plenty in back where a lot of the rooms are. The lunch menu is pretty extensive and the staff is friendly enough. The food itself was fairly average. I was a bit disappointed that the serving size for the cake was a whole quarter of the cake, too much for just me. if I was going to a hotel afterwards I would certainly give it a try but I didn't want to have it sit in my car for hours. Overall, I would suggest having a reasonable sized serving. Not sure I would return though.
I love the country style vegetable and the variety of entree choices. I LOVE their pecan pie. It's always busy, but that's because it's so good! Iconic eatery!
My family and I are on our way to vacation in Gatlinburg Tn. My husband has been to one of the three city cafe diners a while ago, so he suggested going there. We have 2 special abilities teen boys… our server was Alishia, seriously, when you go here ask for her, she is fantastic! Totally deserves a raise! 1 kids meal, 3 adult entrees 1 cheese cake 1 baklava and a scoop of ice cream $78.39. My oldest son had the big breakfast with blueberry pancakes, hubby had a southwest chicken sandwich that he let me try… now y’all gotta understand, I do not like white meat chicken but holy hotdog Batman, that was delicious and I had the gyros with home fries. This was the best food I’ve had all year!!! I wanna stop here on our way home! The food is excellent and service is exceptional! We were at our table for a good 3 hours. We started playing uno lol. Alishia was so kind. I apologized for is taking so long and she was insistent that we take our time and be comfortable! I wish I could have left her a bigger tip
I had the pleasure of visiting City Cafe on my way back from Atlanta. As a burger enthusiast, I couldn't resist trying their juicy patties and crispy fries. Plus, the promise of a mouth-watering dessert selection had me salivating before I almost set foot in the place. Feeling ravenous and ready to chow down, I called in my order at 11:25 pm. A friendly young woman began taking my order but then changed her mind and told me to come in to place it. Not ideal, but I had about 15 minutes left on my drive, so I figured why not? But when I finally arrived at 11:47 pm, I was met with locked doors and a feeling of defeat. Both their sign and Google told me they were open until 12 am, so why were they playing hard to get? I called the restaurant and the same young woman who had taken my order answered, only to tell me they were closed. Was she messing with me? Had I just been punked by a burger joint? I couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. I mean, who closes their doors 15 minutes early and then tells a customer to come in to place their order? It was like a scene out of a sitcom. I highly recommend City Cafe if you enjoy a good burger, but maybe call ahead to make sure they're actually open. Or, you know, just roll the dice and see if you can catch them during their elusive operating hours. It's like a foodie scavenger hunt!
Went to the Lee Hwy location. Doesn’t look like much from the outside and the Best Western it is attached to has seen better days. However, the inside of the restaurant is lively and fun with 1980’s music over the loudspeakers. Menu is huge. Can get just about anything you want here. Specializes in breakfast and it is served all day. Portions are huge and everything we ordered was good. Not to be missed are the desserts. Tons of different kinds of cakes, pies, and other dessert choices. The cakes are huge and so are the slices. Get yours to go because you will probably be full after you eat your main entree.
