We were looking for a place to eat around 6:00 pm, which wasn't easy in Chaves in October, however the owner was most helpful, despite the language barrier, and he provided us with delicious bread cheese accompanied by tomato onion salad, and glasses of really good vinho verde thank you

We were looking for this place and stumbled in on a public holiday when many other places were closed. What a find! Very unprepossessing, it's run by Ramiro Santos, a local winemaker who makes wine for 5 different producers. Ramiro is very passionate and within seconds we were being asked for our opinions of this and that wine, including his own. It's quite cosy and modest, and you can eat nibbles like olives and small pies. The choice of wines varies of course, but plenty from the local area and also elsewhere in Portugal. Prices for a glass start at €2. A real find that made our day!
