The family who owns the restaurant did all the serving and cooking (with 2 helpers). Everything was served family style, and the dishes were so incredibly fresh and flavorful. The cook just beamed with happiness when we told her how much we enjoyed the food. After dinner, they had a birthday cake and sang happy birthday to me in Portuguese. It was such a special evening. Afterwards, the family showed us the grapes they had just harvested, and tried to explain their winemaking process (although the language barrier was a challenge). I just can't say enough good things about this restaurant it was a major highlight of our entire trip to Portugal.
Since the site advertised this restaurant as open, we decided to give it a try. Arriving there, the sign on the door showed as open, and another sign also stated the operating hours, where it also should be open. NOT A LIVING SOUL AROUND!!!
A family home with a family restaurant on the ground floor owned by a recycled teacher and his wife, an outstanding cook. 80% of the produce, ingredients and wine grown in the property. Amazing cuisine, amazing people, amazing value for money. Pure Portugal.
