Mackinaw's - Chehalis

I wish I could give a millon stars. The restaurant is beautiful inside. My husband and I have dietary restrictions: vegetarian and allergies to tomato, corn and soy. The staff made sure the food we ate was within our restrictions. My husband had the flat iron steak with green beans and scalloped potatoes. He said the meat was juicy, tender and seasoned perfectly. He isn't a fan of scalloped potatoes, but said these were full of flavor and so creamy. I had the lentil curry. Just thinking about it warms my soul and makes my mouth water. It was the perfect blend of spices. The veggies and lentils were perfectly cooked. The potatoes were so buttery. The rice was PERFECT! At first welcome was not warm. Ordered ravioli and got more of a cheese soup with noodles on the bottom. Artistic liberties?… A stretch. Flavor was decent but so salty I had to pace myself and drink the whole carafe of water. I tipped… why?

Service was mediocre at best. We were rushed through from the moment we sat down. We were still eating one course when the next one arrived. I had to hold my finished dish so the server could place the new dish at my place. We got asked about our entrée after we were 3/4 through.The food was blah. The fondue was served with very stale bread, greasy sausage, and apple pieces that needed to be cut down to enjoy. The salad was great. We were not served bread with our chicken ravioli pasta when all other tables around us received bread. The bechemale sauce was flat (salt? , pasta was stuck to the bottom of the bowl, and the chicken so over cooked it was difficult to eat. Won't be back. Too bad.

My wife had made reservations for New Years Eve for our 40th Anniversary a couple weeks prior and had received a confirmation email. However, when we showed up, the place was closed and dark. Their phone rolled over to voicemail.

I love this place. Food is always amazing and menu is always different (which I love), staff is super friendly and efficient. Reservations are definitely recommended. I will be back...soon?
