Had drinks at the bar then greeted by Susan (Sue) who showed us to our table Sue could not have been more welcoming OMG The food for starters we had the scallops and the pate. Our mains linguine with clams and 10oz steak with beef dripping sauce (you’ll never have better) was fantastic Every course was checked on by Sue to make sure everything was ok Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert rounded of a perfect evening Every member of staff had a smile on their face and a bounce in their step Only thing missing was the chefs coming out of the kitchen for a bow A Great Experience. Thank you all. Pat Bob (6th Nov 23)
We visited today and glad we had booked! We received a very warm greeting at the door and were shown to a good sized table with large comfortable chairs. Even though the beamed ceilings are low it did not feel claustrophobic. The decor is tasteful, and everywhere was clean and neat. The tables are not too close to each other and positioned so that it didn’t feel like a canteen. We were greeted warmly by a lady who took our drinks order. These arrived swiftly. Our food order was taken promptly and we were impressed that she checked for any allergies first. We went for the roast with a trio of meats. There were chicken, pork and beef. Each of these were cooked to absolute perfection. Homemade Yorkshires was a welcome change compared to most pubs. Large, crisp and light. The crackling, potatoes, stuffing, and roasted veg were all delicious. They were cooked to perfection and so well seasoned that nothing needed salt or pepper adding. We ordered the trio of veg and potatoes to share, because they sounded so delicious (and they were) but we probably didn’t need to. The BEST Dauphinoise we’ve ever had! Bottomless gravy was another welcome change. Our very friendly, efficient and helpful waitress Aimee checked back on us swiftly and then regularly. Everything was just perfect with the main course, and despite feeling full we forced down the trio of desserts to share, and the too tempting Baileys Chocolate Martini! The ambience was perfect too. No loud music or chairs scraping, due to carpets. All of the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and our waitress Aimee is a credit to the business. (We were the party with the nippy dog sorry). The plate of treats for our dog was a lovely touch too. We have already booked for the very reasonably priced Christmas meal. If it’s this good on a busy day then we are very confident for our next visit. Highly recommended.
Cant believe ive never been here sooner.Came here for dinner the night before our holiday away.Loved the food we had and the service we received. Its a bit expensive but soooo worth it.Will be back soon with the father in law. Also love the whole design/layout of the pub.
We visited for a special birthday as a family. The pub is warm and cosy, and very inviting. We were using a birthday voucher, and the waitress was happy to explain what we could have from the menu, which was very helpful. I was impressed by the cocktails (2 for £14 the passion fruit martini was very good. The scallop starter was probably the best scallop dish I’ve ever had so yummy, seasoned really well, and hot! The steak main was ok (big! but quite a lot of fat and a bit ropey. Lots of choices for the kids meals, which was good. The desserts were very good the trio especially ticks all the boxes. The service was really good, even when they were busier than normal. Would have given 5 stars but the steak brought it down a little, and also the chairs need changing (they dip massively so you’re sitting on the wooden surround .
Aimee was our server she was very friendly and efficent making sure all our needs were met . Well done Aimee
