Chips were crunchy and fresh as well. Service was relatively fast considering how busy it was. Only downsides are the shop set up you can come in from the front or back and it 's hard to tell who is in line or who is waiting causes a lot of 'pushing in '. Also only got 2 potato cakes when we ordered and paid for 4.
Great food, excellent servings, generous servings of chips, well priced, banana fritter was huge and only $1.70. I also had an excellent Stake Burger with the Lot for about 8.00. It is now our favourite fish and chip shops and if you get board with that they do Asian noodle dishes.
No idea why the other reviewers had such a bad experience, could be new management but I was getting my tax done a few shops down and decided to grab fish and chips for dinner as it was pretty much the only shop still open on the strip at 8:30pm on a Thursday night.<br/ <br/ The service was fine for a takeaway fish and chip shop, the staff were friendly, polite and able to adjust my order accordingly.<br/ I ordered the fisherman pack and added 2 dim sims and asked for grilled fish, which was normally $15 but they hadn't 20% off deal and I didn't even know so when she charged me less, I thought she made a mistake at first but she explained they had a promotion on for the month, which was nice to have honoured even though I was unaware of it. <br/ <br/ The calamari was really nice, crispy and not chewy. The grilled fish was fresh and cooked in a light batter, the battered prawns were a nice addition, the dims sims were excellent and the chips were ok, the only downside was the amount of chips that was included in the pack, equivalent to half a cup. <br/ <br/ Will be getting fish and chips from here onwards. <br/
Not the best, but not awful. Whenever I 'm out for a pushbike ride along either side of Port Phillip Bay, I like to have fish and chips. It just seems right when I 'm by open water. I rocked up to Omega 3 almost at random, drawn in in part because they had cuts of fresh fish in their window. I thought that might be a sign that they were better than a typical dinky di chippery. You call this 'dinky Chi ' because it 's an Asian crew behind the counter.<br/ <br/ That might account for why Omega 3 uses panko batter on the fried stuff. It gave a nice crunch to the flake filet, prawns, scallops and calamari I got with the mixed pack I ordered. The long, slender fish filet was cooked nicely and tasted clean. The two scallops were moist and meaty, and there 's no doubt they WERE scallops (some places are reputed to pass off plugs of skate as fakes when you order scallops. That 's because the coral was still attached and fried up with the rest. I 'm squicky about eating that I don 't mind it chopped up and stirred into sauces but Omega 3 prepared it properly. Ditto for the chips, which weren 't piled on like some F&C places do, but there were enough to be in balance with the quantity of the seafood.<br/ <br/ The pack cost $14, so it 's not a cheap chip shop, but I 've paid more for less at other joints, so I can 't knock Omega 3. Except for two things there was a bit of an acrid 'old fish ' pong about the place when I stepped in. And there 's nowhere to sit inside to eat. I generally take my paper wrapped chips to the nearest beach, but the day I stopped in the temperature was 8 and the winds off the water were blowing at speeds of five times that number. I had to hot foot down to the shonky enclosed mall to find a bench to sit and eat my meal on. Wrinkly ancient women were coming by pushing jeeps and commenting on the good smell of my food. Ugh granny flirts...
Always Good Fresh Fish. We have been getting our fish and chips here for a very long time and we are never dissapointed by the freshness and quality of the fish and seafood. The chips are a bit more variable, but when they are good, they are awesome, crunchy and delicious. The staff are young happy and friendly. Very happy to recomend Omega 3
