I'm usually not a fan of Porter/Stout, but after a sip of the Spectre, had to have half as it was like a rich pudding in a glass! We had the Burger and Mac cheese (the team was good enough to whistle a perfectly dressed side salad that was not on the menu). Very good value, perfect portion size and very well executed. We only had time for a flying bite to eat, but will definitely lose some lazy hours again, which are our way through the ale selection. This place was through many guises before, possibly due to its location only from the thick of it in the city, but Big Hand have managed to turn it into a warm and successful pinhole that is its own goal. Live music on Tuesday.
Was in a few times for drinks, but on the FB the news of them start eating and seeing the dishes, we had to try! And it didn't disappoint! Beef roast was huge and so delicious!! Would definitely recommend and would go back! My husband loves the choice of real Ales, as well as my father and father in law. You have an impressive selection of gin that matched me! And the staff is really nice and takes the time to talk to you! Very recommended!
The location is fantastic. The beers from the Micro-Brewery are top-notch. The staff is very friendly. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a great beer in Chester.
This is a fantastic spot for true ale enthusiasts with a wide variety of beers, including Big Hand's own brews and guest ales. They also have a great gin selection. They host vinyl evenings, I believe on Tuesdays, which are a must-see. Just be aware to avoid visiting during Chester Races.
This is a really great pub. I visited on a Friday night and found a nice crowd - not too crowded, with a good mix of people. They have a wonderful Bagatelle table and a variety of board games to play. The beer selection was fantastic! The sour beer from Pressure Drop brewery was the best I've had all year. I also loved the fridge sale concept, which kept the bottles fresh and offered a selection of unique beers at reasonable prices. I definitely recommend checking this place out. Go on, give it a try!
