The owners were friendly and helpful. We didn't get a chance to eat in the pub because it was fully booked, but we enjoyed a few drinks there. Despite the low number of people in the pub, we attributed it to Covid restrictions. The location was great for exploring Chester, with an ice cream farm, The Crocky Trail, Cheshire Oaks, and Chester Zoo nearby. We would definitely stay here again for a couple of nights if we were in the area.
After a complete camping disaster (no fault of theirs wish I'd checked air beds as well as tent) they went out of their way to accommodate us in the b&b. Great service, clean room and friendly hosts. Excellent for visiting Chester zoo, also had a great day out in New Brighton.
My partner and I decided to go camping at a local site after our wedding was canceled because of COVID-19. We made a reservation at this restaurant for dinner on the night we were supposed to be celebrating with our friends and family, and it turned out to be a fantastic choice! The chef, who was also the owner, came to our table after we ordered our food. He was aware of our situation and offered us a special meal that wasn't on the menu: sirloin steak, hand-cut chips, mushrooms, tomatoes, and more. He even surprised us with champagne to accompany our delicious meal. We also enjoyed the chef's special chocolate dessert, which was absolutely delicious. The staff was very attentive, and the owners were incredibly kind and made our day, which started off so disappointing, very special. We definitely plan on returning and camping onsite in the future.
This restaurant experience was terrible. A group of four moms in our 30s and some children under 10 were sitting outside due to a large group. When it started raining, the kids tried to put up an umbrella but some bugs fell out, causing panic. One of us moms helped put up the other umbrella, but then the angry owner, a small bald man, stormed out and yelled at us for putting up the umbrellas. He claimed he had been watching us on CCTV and continued to shout at us, insisting that we wouldn't do that at home. We were shocked and told him not to speak to us like that in front of our children. He then told us to come inside, but we refused and asked for a refund. A young girl at the bar mentioned that the owner doesn't like kids, which was disappointing since we had just come from the ice cream farm nearby. Only two young girls apologized to us before we left for another restaurant nearby, where we were pleasantly surprised by the service. It's unfortunate to leave a bad review, especially in these times, but the way we were treated at this restaurant was unacceptable.
Stayed for one night at carridges in a tent. Pitch up was perfect. Paul and the lady behind the bar were wonderful and really helped us all with the covid rules in place so we were all at ease. Paul even came over to our tent to introduce himself and ask us what we were cooking for tea. Hahaha ! Toilets were very clean and up to maximum standard. Will definitely be returning.
