I've dined at George's multiple times, hoping that their battered fish would improve, but unfortunately it hasn't. Battered fish should be crispy, but here it is consistently soggy. This issue could easily be fixed, but I may not be returning to give it another chance anytime soon.
I had doubts about ordering the fish and chips, fearing they would be cold and soggy. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The fish was wrapped separately from the chips, ensuring it remained hot and crispy. The chips reminded me of the ones we used to eat out of paper years ago - piping hot and delicious. I also tried the curry sauce, which was amazing.
I don't even know where to begin. After a long and challenging shift with the ambulance service, I walked into this restaurant feeling exhausted and hungry. I must say, the service was exceptional and the owner, George I believe, was incredibly generous and made me feel valued after a hard day at work. A big thank you to the staff for their hospitality. And to top it off, I told my wife that night that the hot and sour soup was the best I've ever had, and the prawns with green pepper and black bean sauce were absolutely amazing. Thank you, George, for a fantastic dining experience.
Chips were very under cooked and stoggie, poor value, service was slow, l would not recommend or look to visit again in the future.
Regularly visit this chip shop and has to be the best in Chester in my opinion. Fish, chips mushy peas and curry sauce is my go to.
