It took 15 minutes for a staff member to come take our drink order, which then took a long time to arrive. We had to ask to place our food order 15 minutes later. Our food did not come until an hour later, by which time we had finished our drinks and no one came to ask if we wanted more. There were only a few tables left in the restaurant and the waitresses were standing around doing nothing. As someone who has worked in hospitality for many years, I believe it would be beneficial for the staff to smile and be more cheerful when taking orders and checking on customers. We have visited this restaurant many times over the years and unfortunately, the service gets worse each time. The food tonight was not worth the wait. We will not be returning.
First time visiting. Staff slow. Standing about talking when we were waiting ages to order drinks then our drinks left on bar waiting . No cutlery on table had to ask. Didnt clear glasses had to move them out of way on another table. Calamari over cooked. Pasta not enough sauce and dry. Had to ask twice for salt. Not enough over busy. I have done hospitality and service lacksidaisy! Unfortunately put us off returning
Where to begin… my partner and I came for dinner and were seated very shortly after arriving, we then realised what we were in for as it took about 15 minutes to order food, our starters took 40 minutes to arrive… we both work in hospitality so know how it can be but it was ridiculous, after we finished our starters we had to wait 30+ minutes to be cleared with empty plates on the side. One of the members of staff came past us 4 times and looked at us, saw us and then proceeded to walk away. The wait for mains wasn’t as ridiculous but my partners Chicken main was lukewarm, basically served cold, my pizza was ok. The exact same situation happened with the members of staff walking past us with empty plates for 25 minutes even after looking directly at us looking agitated. The desserts they were missing a few so we had to narrow it down to ones we didn’t necessarily want, the new festive snowball dessert is allegedly served warm as it’s a chocolate truffle and sounded lovely. It was served just above cold… we are in our early 20s and have never had a worse meal experience ever… i don’t know if Zizzi has changed that much since i’ve last been but it’s taken a massive decline, hoping it’s a one off but serious action is needed as we just paid £70 for an appalling service.
Basic main courses not available lasagna and carbonara, chicken on a skewer was tiny, no chocolate brownie for pud, white wine had not been chilled, all this on a Friday not a Monday. Would have expected the restaurant to be fully prepared. Staff could not care less sadly.
The prices were high for the average quality of the food. Due to the long wait for our meal and having to meet an appointment elsewhere, we had to leave half of our food uneaten. It took 10 minutes to get someone's attention for the bill, and when we finally went up to the till, we were met with disinterest from the staff. We mentioned a 30% discount code we had, but the new server insisted that it had been applied, although the full price was still charged. Despite being late for our appointment, we paid and asked for a receipt, but were told they couldn't provide one. After much confusion and back-and-forth, we were informed that we had been charged full price and could not apply the discount code again. Frustrated with the lack of customer service and the overall experience, we left without a receipt and no intention of returning. The restaurant clearly needs more staff to handle the demand, as their current setup is leading to unhappy customers and lost business.
