Sweet Claude's is a fantastic ice cream spot located in Cheshire, Connecticut. They recently relocated from Route 10 to a new building on West Main Street as part of the Ball Socket Arts building. I visited their new location and although the interior is different, they still serve their delicious homemade ice cream. I tried the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup flavor in a waffle cone and it was excellent. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. The new location has more parking and benches for seating compared to their old location. Don't forget to add Sweet Claude's to your list for a Connecticut ice cream tour this summer!
The ice cream at this restaurant is average. I ordered Maple Walnut Toasted Almond and only found 1 walnut with no almonds. I don't understand why they are so stingy with the nuts. I would be willing to pay more for a better topping. On the bright side, the ice cream is not overly sweet. Personally, I prefer Arethusa or Wentworth's ice cream.
Cones are crisp and fresh, unique flavors to choose from. Ice cream is flavorful, not just sweet. They always have a nice selection of vegan, sugar and fat free options. Service is excellent, and visiting the new space is a visual treat of its own!
I visited Sweet Claudes on their opening day at their new location in Cheshire. The new spot has plenty of parking and seating both inside and outside. Their menu offers a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings, including non-dairy, sugar-free, and non-fat options. The employees were kind enough to let me try some samples before deciding on the Reese's Cup, which had peanut butter ice cream with chopped Reese's cups. The ice cream was delicious, but I was disappointed that they couldn't put multiple flavors in separate cups to avoid mixing. I suggest they consider offering ice cream flight containers like other popular shops in Connecticut. On opening day, the employees seemed a bit lacking in enthusiasm and were somewhat unfriendly. They accept both cash and cards.
