Of course because ingredients cost more. But there were no ingredients! Barely any meat or condiments! Just terrible I may as well have just bought a dry sub bun. Will never be back I was so disappointed.
During a day trip to Chester, my husband and I decided to stop in at this restaurant that had been recommended to us by friends in the area. We arrived just as the doors opened at 11 am, only to find out that the restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays due to staffing issues. We were warmly greeted by a friendly woman upon entering. The menu offered a variety of pizza options, donairs, subs, and homemade chicken soup. We each ordered a slice of freshly made pizza from the display, I chose pepperoni and my husband went with the meat lovers. To our surprise, our pizza slices were served on real plates with cutlery, no plastic utensils or paper plates. The pizza was hot, tasty, and had a delicious crust that was just the right thickness. The sauce had a good flavor and was generously applied. We both agreed that if we were in the area again and craving pizza or a sub, this would be our go-to spot in Chester.
Today, I picked up a 16-inch pizza with pepperoni, double hamburger, and extra cheese. However, the pizza only had a normal amount of cheese, despite being charged extra for it. Additionally, there was no hamburger on the pizza at all. I also ordered garlic fingers with cheese and real bacon, but it seemed like there was hardly any bacon on them - maybe only half a slice. I have heard that the restaurant is closing this year, and honestly, I will not be sad to see it go. This disappointing pizza will be my last from Big Reds after 40 years of enjoying their food.
Not being familiar with the area, we happened upon Big Red's because we needed a quick place to eat before an evening at the Chester Playhouse; every place else we found was too busy. The pizza was okay, but I don't recall it being anything special. The restaurant was clean; seemed to be a popular take-out place.
My first visit to this restaurant was for lunch and we enjoyed a delicious pizza. The menu mainly features pizza, subs, donairs, lasagna, and similar dishes. We had a table with a fantastic view of the water.
