My local Thai place, but I find it only average in terms of taste, service and value for money - I prefer to travel farther afield when I'm after a Thai fix.Worth a try but the quality varies and the same dishes isn't the same on separate visits either.
I have eaten here a few times with friends and have never been disappointed. Prices are quite reasonable. I would usually purchase one of the vouchers from scoopon as they usually have good meal offers. The service at Thaitanic is better than what you would get at the food court. You place your order at the counter, take a seat and wait to be served. Have tried both their pad thai and stir fry with rice dishes and I'm quite satisfied with both. The restaurant is also spacious and it is never too busy. Always plenty of tables to choose from.
I will be up front and say that we went to this restaurant using a discount voucher. Even without the deal the food is reasonably priced. We were seated and were told what was included in our deal. The only soft drink available was coke, and as we don't like this we opted to pay for iced tea and also get tap water. The entrees arrived relatively quickly... about 20 minutes and were very nice. The salt and pepper squid was well cooked and had a good crunch. The vegetable gyoza were light and had a beautiful mouth feel. After waiting for about another 20 minutes one of the mains arrived. We waited for the rice and it took 5 minutes to attract the staffer to ask about the other main and rice. We were told that rice would cost more (we had assumed it would be included in a full 3 course meal but our mistake... but it would have been nice if the staffer had told us this when ordering... I would assume most people get rice with Thai food). We ordered rice and asked about the other main and asked for the water which had never arrived.A few minutes later the other main arrived and a few minutes after that, the rice then the water.Though the duck dish a bit cold by this stage, the flavours were excellent. The meat was soft and pink and the vegetables plentiful and crisp. The Masaman had a good flavour, but the potatoes were undercooked and there was one piece of meat that was dry and very hard and black... like it was outside the sauce while cooking. That should never have made it in to the bowl. The service overall was very inadequate. From the time taken to bring dishes, to the absence of a "would you like rice with that?", to the need to remind about water, to the staggering of the bringing of the mains, to the not picking up the entree dishes when bringing the mains (luckily we had an empty table next to us) to the need to chase up desert, to the iced tea that never arrived, we were disappointed with the service.Would we go back? For take away, yes, but not for a sit down meal.
When the food is good it's good. Unfortunately it varies. Service is usually pretty ordinary. I've had to hunt down a waiter. On this occasion the place was totally empty at around 7pm which is rarely a good sign. The kebab shop next door was full.
