Mutiara - Chesterfield

Oh no! Before COVID, this restaurant was enjoyable, but not anymore. The place desperately needs an update, especially the unsatisfactory toilets. The drinks are pricey and the food is awful, made with low-quality meat and seafood. I will not be coming back and I cannot recommend it. On the bright side, the staff were wonderful and very attentive.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the staff are incredibly friendly. I can't find a single fault - it was just brilliant.

Visited with friends for all you can eat menu. Can only order 5 starters. The food was obviously re warmed or microwaved as it was served too quickly. The chicken was like eating rubber (obviously boiled), crispy beef was like eating crunchy twiglets. The food was poor, the table and menus were sticky to touch, the crockery was dirty, the wine was like vinegar. The toilets were vile, cracked tiles lots of filler generally very shabby. Staff very rude and aggressive. We aired our views to a staff member and we were told “no worries” thinking we may have a discount or drinks deducted to then be presented with the full price bill. We then said we weren’t happy with paying full price. We were then hassled by 2 members of staff who became aggressive until we paid our bill. I really hope this restaurant closes down so customers don’t have to experience this vile service

Let's start with some positives. Very welcoming staff and prompt attentive service. As you're shown to your table here's where the problems start. Sticky menus and sticky tables. The starters are initially tasty until you realise every single one is just coated in salt. (I'm used to Chinese food it can be salty but this is on another level). The prices are high too. The main courses are better quality than the starters. Very little duck with the pancakes too. This could easily be better but for now I won't be rushing back and I can't recommend.
