The Great Barn Restaurant

I initially planned to order a slice of cake and a cup of tea, but I changed my mind and went for a cup of tea and a cheese pasty instead. The pasty was £3.75, but it was definitely worth it; it was generously filled and had a wonderfully flaky crust. We shared a teapot, which gave us about three and a half cups of tea. My daughter, who is gluten-free, even found a cake option there. I particularly appreciated that they avoid selling bottled water and instead offer it for free.

I visited Hardwick Hall on September 1, 2021, and I'm writing this review as I enjoy my time here. I was a bit hesitant to come after reading some negative reviews, but my experience has been wonderful. The staff was welcoming and friendly when I arrived at 9:45. I was in the mood for a cup of tea with a scone, but there were none on display. I asked if they were available, and a staff member checked for me and found they were still in the kitchen. They brought me a lovely warm scone with clotted cream. They also assisted me in getting a pot of strawberry jam and asked if I would like more milk, which I happily accepted. When I got to the table, I discovered that the teapot was filled with hot water, allowing me to brew over three cups of tea. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be coming back!

This delightful café offers comfortable seating options both indoors and outdoors for those who prefer it. While the food selection is somewhat limited at the moment due to delivery issues, it's still a great spot for a light lunch. They have an impressive variety of cakes—though I've never sampled the unusual chocolate and beetroot cake, I found it to be absolutely delicious, even as someone who generally doesn't like beetroot!

At the moment they work with a reduced menu after covid, but I was sure that be fixed, but what they are selling are wonderful cakes and scones, and delicious coffees, a great thank you to the administration that have finally accepted the popular request to provide an indoor area for dogs walker and their pooches, we go our dogs twice per week in park in all weather and a warm dry place is wonderful. Thank you.
