It was a little hard to find the place, but one there we got a nice table facing the garden. Starters excellent the lobster and the squid. The Duck as a main course also very good. The pasta with truffles needed more taste. The cheeses were served on a hot plate and melted more raclette than selected cheeses. Attentive and friendly staff.
The bar is lovely and the staff is great. The food looks amazing and I can't wait to come back and try it. The staff is also very friendly.
Visited while we were in the area as last time it was so busy we were sad we didn't get a chance to try it. It was really quiet. We checked out the menu outside, found something we each wanted only to find out it was reduced menu of just pizza or nachos. We ordered a drink each and I took a chance on raspberry ripple cider. Definitely not for me. It tasted like someone had washed out an old ice cream tub. Bought a replacement drink and decided to go elsewhere for food instead. The atmosphere was sadly lacking which is a shame because it's such a beautiful venue. The ladies toilets are so stylish with those basins the tiles, the paper. The countertop slightly lets it down and the black grubby marks from a long times worth of spray under the dryer. All in all we were a bit disappointed having seen other reviews and not being able to get a seat before. I hope when we're back over that way we can amend the review and that it was just a blip.
I am truly saddened to learn that this pub is closing down. I had attempted to make a reservation for us to visit this week, but received an email stating that they will be closing. I have had some wonderful dining experiences at this establishment. The staff is friendly and there are unique decorations scattered throughout. The outdoor seating area is also quite charming. I hope that the staff are able to find employment elsewhere. Best of luck to all of you.
This charming and unique pub offers a selection of real ales. Card carriers can enjoy a 20p discount through Camra.
