I’m not sure if they’re out of business already or not, but they called to cancel my rehearsal dinner in October due to the company being sold. They have not answered any of my calls or emails regarding getting my deposit money back. Absolutely terrible business practices and customer service!
My mom and I have been coming here for years but, unfortunately, lately we have been very displeased with this place and the quality of their food.Mother's day they had a limited menu. Which is fine. We call and made reservations and we took my daughter to eat with us. She ordered the pancakes and it was supposed to come with fruit on top. They brought us (2) blueberries. Like 2 small blueberries in a bowl. When I asked about it, our wonderful waitress went back to the kitchen and brought (2) more. She said they're running low so they're only giving 2. This was at the very beginning of the day so I was disappointed that they seemed unprepared to offer the specials the had made just for Mother's Day.Then last night we returned. Again, we came right at opening. At first my mom was told that they didn't have any more eggplant parmesan and then they came back and said oh they had 1 more. I ordered skirt steak. When our meals came it was very clear that mine had been made the night before and REHEATED today. Definitely not the taste of freshly made food. I'd also like to note that when the bill came, the steak charge was $28 dollars but on the menu it was $22. They did fix it for us but I still wouldn't pay $22 for that same meal again.Drinks, atmosphere, and service are all great but they are really falling short on food expectations.
The positive was that our waiter was fine. Not great but fine. He was young and maybe new as indicated by his awkwardness so we gave him the benefit of the doubt. The bad was as follows during our dinner there:1. zucchini chips were not fried long enough2. My wine came in a dirty glass. I asked for it to be replaced with a clean glass. A clearly high bus boy ? brought me an empty wine glass and sat it on the table. I guess I was supposed to pour my dirty wine into the new glass at the table. I actually had to clarify that I wanted new wine to be poured into a new, clean glass. Finally got this about 10 minutes later.3. Entrees came. Fettuccine Alfredo was bland. I mean, zero flavor. Salmon was basic and may have come from Gordon Food Service or Costco.4. Because of the bland fettuccine alfredo, I asked for black pepper. During most of my experiences at Italian restaurants when pepper is asked for, you get the fresh cracked stuff. The waiter came back and set down a little shaker of black pepper like you get in a diner. This actually made my husband and I laugh out loud. I added the pepper but it didn’t help. I didn’t finish my meal. That is when decided that our time at Abbiocco was over. We paid our bill and had to ask that it be corrected because we were being charged for two glasses of wine when I only ordered one. Once that was fixed and we paid, we went to another Italian place in the area that we know is great and finished our dinner there. That’s how bad this was. We paid for two dinners out in one night.
I really wanted to like this place. Having a nice brunch/lunch spot in Chesteron would be great. We went last week thinking brunch was served Saturdays since stated on the website. Unfortunately, it is a Sunday only thing but the menu is much smaller than what is shared online.Moving forward, lunch was blah. The food menu was great but after ordering the Chicken Salad, Short Rib Sandwich, and Ham and Swiss Sandwich, the best tasting thing on the plate was the French Fries with the meal.Today we opted for brunch for Father's day. We chose the Classic Breakfast, Pancakes with blueberry compote, Croque, Lobster Benedict, and Prosciutto Benedict. The pancakes were dark brown and the blueberry compote was meh. Next, Lobster Benedict came with 4 small pieces of Lobster, mostly bruschetta, but the biggest disappointment was the over cooked poached eggs. Also, the Prosciutto Benedict had over cooked poached eggs and the taste of the prosciutto was off, almost rancid in taste. We can honestly only suggest the Classic Breakfast and the Croque at this time.Overall the service is a bit slow during the day the atmosphere is what keeps me coming back in hopes things get better. I love keeping business in our town.
