Cosy, warm, simply good Italian cuisine. This is a great place to spend some time and enjoy a nice dinner.
You can only have so many marquesitas and tacos and quesadillas before you start to crave some home cooked ragout, fresh pasta, or a zesty green salad packed with veggies. If you're missing the greens, or the European flair of cooking, go visit Laura at her San Remo restaurant. She treats everyone like family, and her restaurant feels like a home kitchen for the neighbourhood. Great prices, absolutely delicious food, and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Ask Laura questions about the area, she will surely have some stories. Bear in mind the new location across from the park the restaurant has moved.
Laura has transported her Italian home kitchen to Chetumal. We felt like we entered her living room when we arrived, greeted with a smile and a kiss. Fresh homemade pasta with a selection of daily sauces, meats roasted to perfection. A killer breakfast omelete and don't forget to try the sweets. The tiramisu tastes like clouds. The lemon meringue pie is tart and smooth with a delicious home baked crust. If you're on the run try the mini quiches and meat pies. This is home. Thank you Laura and Jennifer
San Remo was a surprise. I wasn't sure when we went to go in what I'd meet, but both the food and hostess were wonderful. We were taken out by a friend who assured us we'd never find such good food elsewhere, and I agree, it was wonderful. It is very tiny, but the food experience is worth sitting in a small area to have the enjoyment. We had stuffed peppers and some italian pudding with small freshly baked cookies that were not too sweet, but delicious. When I complimented the baker, she gave me another....gratis!
