I recommend this caffe to anyone who likes tasty arepas, smoothies and coffee on the morning and for lunch! service is good and the workers are friendly
Great food, aloof, rude, bizarre employees. Takes 45 minutes to make a bagel, incorrectly, while they mean mug you. Delivery order didn't show and manager instructed me to call uber support, no thought given to the fact I still wanted food. Really tried to like this place over the years but the strange, that's your problem staff disappointed one too many times.
I came across this place omw to Ann Sathers (In search of cinnamon rolls) and I saw the decals and seating near the windows so I had to come in. It's my bday and my tradition is to explore and I found the X that marks the spot. It's small enough to be cozy but open enough to feel comfortable. The use of painted pallets for the menu and wood decor made me feel like I went on a trip to a cool beach town. I had the Ocean Breeze arepa which is the perfect name because its fresh, bright, herbaceous, and lively. The arepa was the perfect breakfast sandwich to flow with the vibe I got from this place. And not to forget to mention, the Caribbean iced coffee was a perfect pairing smooth and slightly sweet with present notes of coconut and caramel. This place deserves to be considered a must stop place to visit when coming to Chicago or looking for a breakfast that's different but so familiar. I just wished I live around the corner to stop by every day.
I need to stop by again and order an arepa (looks like it may be best ordered ahead) but the donut and tea I had were excellent, and the atmosphere was great! Try to arrive early if you have your heart set on seating, though it fills up fast!
Had “Tropical” sandwich: beans, avocado, plantains and cheese. Takes a while to make, is kind of a mess to eat, but was the best tasting thing I’ve had in a while.
