Bandol - Chicago

The food was decent but not exceptional. The menu was quite limited, and the burgers were a bit greasy. My kids ordered poutine, but the gravy was much thinner than what we're accustomed to. While the prices were very reasonable for a downtown location, there are definitely better options in the area.

The tuna in the niçoise salad if from a can. Disappointing. Worse part is I left my credit card at the restaurant after paying the bill. Called to confirm they have it and they confirmed they would hold it for me in a lock box at the bar until I have time to pick it up the next day. Overnight, more than $1,000 of charges appeared on my credit account online account. Won't be back.

While I'm sure many guests have delightful experiences at Bandol, our visit was unfortunately not without issues. We clearly communicated a food allergy in both our reservation notes and at the start of our meal, yet the staff still made several mistakes. This led to our party being served at different times, interrupting the flow of our dining experience. To add to the disappointment, a table that was seated after us received the same appetizer we had ordered, only to be informed later that the kitchen could no longer serve any more of that dish, which seemed to be based on valid reasons. This was understandably disappointing. On a positive note, the restaurant did make sincere efforts to accommodate us and correct the situation once they recognized the mistakes. Their proactive response to our concerns was appreciated. Overall, the food quality and ambiance at Bandol are quite impressive. However, I recommend caution for anyone with food allergies, as extra vigilance is especially necessary here, particularly for those with severe or life-threatening allergies.

There were only a few people in the restaurant, yet we all had to make an effort to find someone to pay our bill. Considering that there were only three occupied tables, this was quite ridiculous.
