It was spot-on for a batch drip: just the right temperature and a nice medium floral note. The small size is 8oz, which is smaller than average, but I appreciate having a slightly cheaper option. They also offer a medium 12oz and a large 16oz. The ordering system is touchscreen-based and powered by GrubHub software, the same as the vendors one level up. You swipe your card to begin, then select your order on the screen. It's a neat setup, although I can see it being a bit slower than ordering directly from a barista. They also offer a limited selection of pastries.
Fantastic! Their signature dish is the "Brad Fit," which is an iced latte topped with warm, creamy foam. The service is friendly, and the coffee is delicious!
To make matters worse, my bill came to $10.14 for the 12oz cup of coffee ($2.50) and the brioche ($5.50). I had placed my order myself on the iPad and didn’t realize I had been overcharged until I checked my bank account the next day. In a neighborhood with so many options for coffee and pastries, I can’t recommend Julia's. The decor is lovely, but it's not worth spending that kind of money on subpar food. This review specifically pertains to Julia's at 333 S. Wabash, Chicago, IL.
