Manjares - Chicago

I’ve eaten here a couple of times through out the years and they’ve stayed pretty consistent with their dishes. Tasty food, big portions, home made tortillas, and friendly service. My new fav at the moment is Lomo de res en Chile de Arbol sauce, spicy and delicious!

Ok, so I had some business to do in this area and afterwards I was hungry and wanted authentic Mexican cuisine. I was told to go here by a near gas station attendant. I wanted fish tacos but because of my shellfish allergy, I chose to be safe. I got chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and two chicken tacos one with cilantro and onions and the lettuce, tomato and cheese...FIRE???MY NEW GO TO SPOT FOR AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD...VERY FRESH, TASTY, GOOD?Parking: Free...plentyKid-friendliness: Saw families thereWheelchair accessibility: Definitely!

By looking at the reviews I thought it was a great place but I didn't like it at all. Food was way over priced and they didn't even have refills. They were canned sodas the food I ordered had no seasoning, the rice was ok beans didn't have a flavor. We didn't know we paid at the register normally the waiter will let you know or take your payment we sat there for a while till we went and asked. Wouldn't come back to eat again.

We usually come here for celebration dinner with my mom Mother's Day, birthday, etc. Food is always good we like to get the parrilladas and there is always waaaay more than enough. Restaurant is small and can get cramped easily, which is a downside but we always have a good time. Service is always good, although I wish they were maybe a bit more attentive in coming around to refill drinks, bring the check, etc. The first time we went we waited forever for the check only to find out you had to pay at the entrance ?All in all, would recommend for a nice family dinner.Parking: Open parking lot with plenty of space, given the size of the restaurant.Kid friendliness: Very limited but still decent kids menu options.
