My husband had ordered a mexican breakfast but the egg was too runny for his taste n the pinto beans and rice was not seasoned enough. My lemon ricotta pancakes was alright. The compote was a bit too sweet for me and with the whipped cream on top it was more sweeter than what I like. The Mexican mocha was also ok. They were nice enough to substitute the bacon with potatoes. The potatoes were cut in slices and deep fried and seasoned well and i really liked them. The concept is interesting and decor is nice. Our server was nice and the overall experience was good. Food was just not as good as expected but that could just be us. We will be back and try something different!
Breakfast is good! I love living near this spot because we can get away from the large brunch crowds downtown on the weekends. We did try Roots for catering our wedding, but ended up going with another company. The food was good. However, we were looking for a more elevated menu service for our day. Still would recommend to consider for weddings though!
Maybe I 'll change my rating later but as of now here 's the way I see it. I sat at the table at 11:30AM. I was told it was too late for breakfast which ends at 11:00. Its now 11:56AM. I 've been sitting at the table for 25 minutes and a new group sits down and within minutes gets served what appears to be fresh pancakes. I comment on it and am told They called in. So a group can call in and reserve breakfast an HOUR later after breakfast ends yet I get denied as I sit here in the restaurant 30 minutes after? The espresso drinks are delicious. The Indian lunch plate I ended up getting looked great, tasted decent, but I 'd opt to go to an actual Indian place over getting it again. Portions aren 't tiny but smaller than I was hoping. The pancakes looks like a good portion size though. Yes I 'm salty about the breakfast ordeal.
I got the Cemita sandwich and it was huge! The piece of fried chicken was twice the size of the bread. Most of the flavor was in the onion and sauce. It was enough for two meals. The fries were perfectly cooked. They were still crispy after I microwaved them hours later.
Not really impressed with the Mediterranean dish. Not only were the vegetables very oily, but the textures of them were inconsistent as well. The polenta was completely bland, it was kind of like chewing on water. (Takes another bite to confirm) Yep, pretty much like eating oily tasting water. The egg was cooked perfectly and decently seasoned.. so I will give em that. In conclusion, the 2 things I enjoyed most on the plate were the carrots and broccoli. To me this dish doesnt really make sense. I kept combining different components of the dish, but none of it really seemed to work together. At least they tried; I do notice the effort and skill put into this, but there were some flaws that I couldnt ignore. It looked better than it tasted unfortunately : Are there any other dishes anyone would recommend that might be more flavorful?
